Sensory Regulation Spinner

Gloucestershire Remap’s task, was to produce two spinners for Sam’s Purple Class pupils, that were one meter in diameter, stable and not subject to tipping. They were to be used as sensory regulators.

School chair footrests

Foot rests added to school chairs used for science, art, domestic science, and wood/metalwork for a pupil with achondroplasia.

Powered platforms for children

MK Remap were approached by Redway School in Milton Keynes to see if we could make a powered platform to help children with physical and learning difficulties gain confidence in their mobility. Two powered platforms were made, based on donated unwanted wheelchair chassis, which would allow a child in an ‘activity chair’ to drive and control the platform using simple ‘forwards / backwards / left / right ‘ buttons

Book Manipulation Aid

The client suffers from motor neurone impairment virtually robbing her of the use of her hands and fingers. She likes to read actual books (as opposed to Kindle books) but cannot now hold or manipulate a book. This project provides a device which has given the client sufficient control of a book to be easily able to read it.

Handlebar extension

A client asked if we could help with an extension to her handlebar on her first bike. The client liked to support her hand and required the handle bar to be smaller and closer to her body.

Dementia activity board

The client is a retired engineer now living in a care home. He is suffering from Alzheimer’s and keeps trying to dismantle things in the home. The care staff wanted an activity board to keep him occupied. Some are commercially available but none of them seem to match his needs.

Hands Up Alternative

A nine year old girl with cerebral palsy wanted to be able to attract her teacher’s attention like all the other pupils did by raising their hands. Lateral Anti-Tip Stabilisers

An eleven year old boy with sensory processing issues, finds it difficult to remain seated in class. He was rocking his chair back and forth. The school negated this risk, only for him to start throwing his weight sideways, putting him at risk of tipping to the side.

Modified Bike

An 8 year old girl with muscle weakness needed help to ride her bike. Modifications to her bike enabled Dad to help her by pushing & steering as required.

Noise box trainer

A teacher needed a device to help blind and partially sighted children to practice their ability to locate and identify sounds.
