Operate knob/handle/button

Wheelchair speed restrictor

A restrictor to allow a lady with MS to have more control over the speed of her wheelchair depending on the situation.

Touch sensitive remote control

Our engineer, Neil, constructed a touch-sensitive remote control for our client, who is a lady that suffers from MS, Arthritis and respiratory problems, which made it previously difficult for her to operate the press buttons on her electric bed remote. She can now operate these herself, without needing to wake her husband at night for bed adjustments.

Games console for people with disabilities

Remap Essex central were approached by groups caring for people with dementia who wanted a game that could occupy people with dementia whilst also offering a useful way of assessing an individuals health status.

Adapted bed controller

Add four large 3D printed levers to allow our client to be able to press the buttons on a motorised bed hand controller.

Dog Treat Dispenser

We were asked by ‘Ability Dogs 4 Young Persons’, Isle of Wight, to come up with a way for the mobility scooter user to reward their dog with treat/s when their dog has achieved a specific task. The method of rewarding the dog had to be very easy for the user to perform. The system needed to deliver a single treat when operated

Powered platforms for children

MK Remap were approached by Redway School in Milton Keynes to see if we could make a powered platform to help children with physical and learning difficulties gain confidence in their mobility. Two powered platforms were made, based on donated unwanted wheelchair chassis, which would allow a child in an ‘activity chair’ to drive and control the platform using simple ‘forwards / backwards / left / right ‘ buttons

One-handed Brake for Mobility Scooter

Our client had lost the use of one hand. His new mobility scooter was fitted with a handbrake which required two hands to operate – one to pull on the brake and the other to operate a locking latch.
A system was engineered to allow the brake to be both operated and locked with one hand

Smart Watch Charging stand

Connecting the battery charging pins to a HalfSun Smart Bracelet V2 is difficult due to its poor design, but was impossible for this client who has little function in his right hand. The provided peg-like clip requires precise alignment requiring dexterity. The solution was to provide an open mounting stand onto which the watch is simply placed down, providing automatic alignment and gravity providing the connection pressure.

Treadmill adaptation for boy with cerebral palsy

Four-year-old boy has cerebral palsy and as part of his treatment he uses a treadmill to help strengthen his legs. He can’t reach the handrails so a lower set has been made to attach to the original rails.

Relocated Wheelchair Hand Control

Client with very little mobility, only movement in one hand and in his head, could no longer reach the electric wheelchair hand control on the side of his chair. Remap made a frame to relocate the hand control to his center so that he could reach it, the frame also carried a support for his tablet which was his only way to communicate.

Bedside light with multiple switches

This client was not happy to use his bed because he could not quickly or easily find the bedside light switch if he needed it during the night and preferred to sleep in a recliner chair.

Electric bed custom hand controller

This project provided a custom replacement for the client’s electric powered bed hand control. It was delivered in two stages, the first version incorporated an existing controller into a 3D printed case and certainly worked and, although it was not optimal, it did give the client the chance to better consider the best design for his needs. The second version was designed based on his feedback and just used standard micro-switches inside.
