Bedroom

Night time toileting

A solution to the problem of clients with reduced dexterity and movement needing to urinate at night.

4-wheeled Walker adaptation

An elderly and frail client needed her 4-wheel walker to be adapted to give her better support to walk within her home. Whilst initially it was thought the support was only needed on one side, it became clear there was a great deal of benefit to adapt both sides and produce a balanced walker with gutter rests.

Tilting bed

The client requires her daughter’s profiling bed to be kept flat when the head end is raised while she is continuously enterally fed over a 12 hour period. This is a standard feature on many such beds, but not this one. A wooden board was placed below the mattress that keeps the user flat when the head of the bed is raised.

Touch sensitive remote control

Our engineer, Neil, constructed a touch-sensitive remote control for our client, who is a lady that suffers from MS, Arthritis and respiratory problems, which made it previously difficult for her to operate the press buttons on her electric bed remote. She can now operate these herself, without needing to wake her husband at night for bed adjustments.

Adapted bed controller

Add four large 3D printed levers to allow our client to be able to press the buttons on a motorised bed hand controller.

Cot Sides

A client with reduced strength needed a solution to get their child in/out of their cot more easily

Bed transfer rail

A bespoke bed transfer rail to help a gentleman with MS to transfer to his wheelchair unaided.

Bed raisers

Bespoke bed raisers for a timber bed with particularly large diameter legs.

Carer Call Button

This disabled client has a live in carer and was using a standard baby alarm to call his carer during the night. Unfortunately, this also transmitted the normal sleeping sounds which was keeping the carer awake. He related this to the carer’s wife who contacted Remap to see if we could help.

Drinking Aid

A lady with advanced Parkinson’s was often left from 20:00 until 08:00 without a drink as she was unable to get a cup or hold a straw to her lips without support so a solution was created to enable her to drink independently.

Bedside light with multiple switches

This client was not happy to use his bed because he could not quickly or easily find the bedside light switch if he needed it during the night and preferred to sleep in a recliner chair.

Intravenous Pump – Alarm Monitor

A monitor for an intravenous pump audio alarm. The client needs to be alerted by a vibrating pager as she is deaf. The pump has no alarm output other than an audio signal. A system has been designed and built that can distinguish the pump alarm in relatively high ambient noise and reject other events such as knocking or tapping on the microphone sensor.

Bed lever/rail extension

The client has a profiling bed. The tallest bed lever/rail available has been fitted by the NHS. This is still not high enough. An extension piece was made to clip to the existing rail with additional stiffening.

Adjustable Wrist Support

Paul has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which has left him with extremely limited movement, literally just a few fingers and his mouth and eyes.
Paul loves using his computer with a glide point mouse (touch pad). The problem is getting, and keeping, his hand in just the right position to operate the touch pad.
I provided a foam wrist support on top of an adjustable platform. It is now easy for a carer to adjust the wrist support up or down my small amounts.

Bed castor raisers

A steel framed bed which was lifted and converted to castors to make it easier for carers to look after the client.
