Sky Q Remote Easy Grip Replacement

Sky is important to Chris, and he uses an old Sky Q Easy Grip remote control holder to help him. The big advantage was the loop on the back that kept the remote safely in his hand. He has been through a few of these, either they broke or the material degraded beyond use. Sky no longer make that holder. Luckily Harrogate & Ripon had already made something like it for a Sky Plus remote that was able to be adapted.

Adapted Doorknob

Our client lives in a warden controlled building where they have recently changed the entry / exit doors on the flats and these are now locked from the inside by turning a small metal circular knob with flattened sides. Our client had difficulty turning this knob and had been leaving the door unlocked at night rather than locking it and being unable to unlock it. We were asked to investigate increasing the leverage on this doorknob.

Activity Boards

Activity boards for supporting children and adults to improve their fine motor skills.

Cycling aid

A hand rest to help a client with a prosthetic arm to ride her bike with confidence.

Bed transfer rail

A bespoke bed transfer rail to help a gentleman with MS to transfer to his wheelchair unaided.

Pan holder for one-handed cooking

After a stroke, the client was unable to hold pans steady on the stove while cooking. The usual pan holders would not work on his Aga, so a simple bracket held in place by magnets was made.

Arjo Sara Stedy additional cross rail

An additional cross rail for an Arjo “Sara Stedy” sit-to-stand equipment, to help a client who couldn’t reach the full height rail due to the particular chair he has.

Conversion of electric screwdriver

A client has problems gripping objects, especially small items. He suffers with Hereditary Motor Sensory Neuropathy (Charko Marie Tooth). This is progressive and has worsened in the last two years. He also has problems walking, needing axillary crutches.

Non-spill cup carrier

A design for a cup or mug carrier for people who are unsteady on their feet, which greatly reduces accidental spills. We have made over a dozen of these for various clients who have suffered from Parkinsons, strokes and the like.

Smart Watch Charging stand

Connecting the battery charging pins to a HalfSun Smart Bracelet V2 is difficult due to its poor design, but was impossible for this client who has little function in his right hand. The provided peg-like clip requires precise alignment requiring dexterity. The solution was to provide an open mounting stand onto which the watch is simply placed down, providing automatic alignment and gravity providing the connection pressure.

Treadmill adaptation for boy with cerebral palsy

Four-year-old boy has cerebral palsy and as part of his treatment he uses a treadmill to help strengthen his legs. He can’t reach the handrails so a lower set has been made to attach to the original rails.
