Folding changing table

The challenge

A client with learning difficulties needs a table to support him in his home while his carers help him get dressed and bathed. Because of the restricted space available, the usual floor-mounted table would not work.

The solution

The task was complicated by a pipe box immediately below the table location. A fold down table, with foam top sourced from a luxury yoga mat, was constructed and screwed to the wall. The drop down legs were held in place by a triple hinged strut. In the folded up position the legs were secured with spring clips and the whole assembly by a catch screwed to the wall.

The benefit

The client can now be attended to by his carers safely and with dignity.
